When it comes to giving during the holidays, don’t get overwhelmed. Start small and follow my three tips!
So…. we don’t have a lot of folks that we are buying for this week, so we’ve decided to take money that we’ve saved (in a Holiday Club account, all year, Rachel!), and drive around on Christmas Day and hand out money like Santa and Mrs. Claus. We’re going to give to whoever strikes our fancy, although we’re thinking about hitting up places where people don’t make a lot of money and have to be working on the holidays. We are actually excited about this! We don’t need anything, and neither do our friends and families, but others would be totally encouraged by something unexpected. And there you have it! 🙂
I love the goat or animal idea through Samaritan’s Purse or Heifer International – I tried to sell my 4yo on the idea and he was confused and mad about it because he wants a goat for himself…I might need to pitch the idea a different way to him, but we are working on the giving spirit anyways!
I like to spent a few days on the weekend cleaning out closets and/or our basement. It never fails that I find a minimum of 5 items that were never used/never opened. During the debt snowball, I give those to Salvation Army/Toys for Tots/Whatever Donation service it best suits.
