My Favorite Blueberry Cobbler Recipe

One of my favorite things about summertime cookouts is the food—especially the desserts! I’m not talking a simple chocolate cake here either, you guys. I’m talking good, old-fashioned cobbler.

My go-to Fourth of July dessert is an easy blueberry cobbler. It’s delicious, affordable and super easy to make.

Here’s what you’ll need, how much each ingredient will cost, and how to make it.

Ingredients

Pre-made pie crust ($2)
3 cups blueberries (about $5)
½ tablespoon lemon juice (50 cents)
½ cup softened butter ($2)
¾ cup brown sugar ($2)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract ($3)
1 cup flour ($2)
1 teaspoon baking powder ($1)
1 teaspoon salt (75 cents)

Directions

For the blueberry filling:

Place pre-made pie crust in a buttered cast-iron skillet or baking dish.
In a medium bowl, combine blueberries and lemon juice. Pour over pie crust.

For the crumble:

In a large bowl, mix softened butter, brown sugar and vanilla extract.
Add flour, baking powder and salt to the butter mixture. Stir together.
Pour the crumble on top of the blueberry filling and bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.

If you need to buy all the ingredients brand-new, you’ll spend around $20. But, more than likely, you already have a lot of these essentials—flour, salt, butter, etc.

Give this easy cobbler a try on Independence Day. Take it from me—this one’s a crowd-pleaser!
